Doctor with High Tech Vision

Dr. Roberto Javier Vasquez

Computerization is not new to medicine, especially not in the
Republic of Panama. Physicians in Panama are taking
advantage of computerized technology for diagnosing and treating a variety of conditions.

The Republic of Panama is not just following the lead of other countries. In some fields, Panamanian physicians are charting the course for technology. One such innovative physician, Dr. Roberto Javier Vasquez, is utilizing advanced computer imaging in his international practice. With his vision, high tech has become a reality in improving diagnostic capabilities, with faster results.

Dr. Vasquez has chosen to apply technology not only to diagnostics, but to improve surgical results, as well. He states that his goal is to practice in an honest, modern way, using standardized technology so that he can better care for his patients.

It is not unusual to see a shipping container of computer equipment in his waiting room. Much research and study goes into the selection of each piece of new technological equipment.

Many patients come to Panamanian doctors and healthcare facilities because of the reasonable costs involved. While the costs of consulting with Dr. Vasquez are of good value, it is his skill and diagnostic abilities that bring people to Panama from all over the globe.

Some patients have been passing through Panama and developed problems which Dr. Vasquez has treated. Once treated by Dr. Vasquez, his patients come back from as far as Australia, Europe, Canada and the United States, to name a few. Some patients come twice a year just for check-ups.

Patients from some countries come because they feel they have been lost in their system of socialized medicine. Required procedures may not even be available in some countries. Often Dr. Vasquez coordinates treatment via email and makes referrals to opthalmologists in the home country. However, the patients usually come back to him.

This ophthalmologist provides treatment for a wide range of problems, such as cataracts, glaucoma, plastic and reconstructive surgery of the eyelids (blepharoplasty) and orbits, lacrimal surgery, corneal transplants, and refractive surgery, including LASIK. There are no age limitations to becoming his patient.
